December Currently

Hooray it's December! Whoah, it's December! Wow, the {school} year is almost half over!
Last month I skipped the Currently party. I wasn't able to get to the post right away, by the time I did, it felt a little too late to join. Again, I am late to join, but decided to link up with the party anyway.
Currently posts always get me thinking about where I am at. As you can see, I have a bunch on my mind. I know, par for the course since I am a teacher, but man, my mind is running non-stop and full! Unfortunately not only in my mind fill, but the headaches and tension are right there with it. But I do not want to be that girl at the party who really drags everyone down, so I will be putting that positive spin on it!

The only one worthy of expanding upon is the tradition. I am not quite ready to verbalize the changes I am contemplating. It is huge that I even announced it at all. It really is just a lot of thinking right now, but I am feeling the need for a change. Hubs is too in his realm, so I guess that is why I am really wanting a sign that I am heading in the right direction. Yep, lots and lots of thinking going on in my head!
I love Christmas Eve, sometimes it is even more exciting than the day. As a kid we always went to everyone's else place for Christmas Day, never stayed home. There was more of them and we had a small place. It was probably more affordable for mom too, but as a kid that never crossed my mind. So she made Christmas Eve, the night full of anticipation a ton of fun, and it always culminated in a gift before heading to bed. It also helped that she put the "Yule Log" on TV which was a definite send you in to slumber land program!
We always eat h'orderves and dessert. Yummy! I seriously love cheese puffs, pigs in a blanket, and stuffed mushrooms. We rarely eat them, so it is such a treat to have an evening full of them. I always bake a ton of cookies (even as a kid) and mom usually have some dainty cake. It is so much fun,
Now that I have kids, it is really exciting. They put out reindeer food and take a ride around the nieghborhood to see lots while Mom and I pull out gifts. That is the night they get gifts from their Grams. Receiving some gifts the night before takes their mind off of Santa {a little} and helps everyone feel even more excited.
We also read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and fill up on Christmas movies. An extra special night loaded with laughter and love!
Ah, I cannot wait!
Don't forget to check out the other posts on Farley's blog, Oh Boy 4th Grade. Thanks to Farley for the Currently party! Love the December design!

    1. Kids brought back my holiday spirit, unfortunately I had a few runs ins with the grinch during the in-between years. I get so excited prepping for the holidays and re-living the fun with them!

  2. I love Christmas Eve too...there is really *NOTHING* I dislike about any Christmas traditions!

We always opened a "together" gift on Christmas Eve. My sister has a great tradition of giving the kids Christmas PJs, so that is what they open on Christmas Eve - my mom usually makes them.

It is so fun to relive holiday traditions & see them fresh through the eyes of a child.

Merry Christmas, I hope the New Year brings a sign or decision about the changes you hope to make!

    1. Absolutely agree with you! We always received PJs too and I carry on that tradition. New PJs make for awesome Christmas morning pictures! Merry Christmas to you!

  3. If you find that magic elf to grade your papers please share with others. Our grades close tomorrow for progress reports and I still have so much to do!

    1. I will absolutely share. Grading papers ranks at the bottom of the perks of being a teacher. Hope you were able to tackle the papers. Being a teacher means we always have something to do!

  4. Christmas Eve is wonderful and I loved reading about your traditions. I have three little ones and I just wish sometimes we could just stay at home and have everyone come to us...But we did similar things to yours when I was a kid and it was something I looked forward to very much! Have a wonderful holiday and I hope you gain some clarity about your career...I go through that about every two or three years and God ultimately places me where I need to be...I have been in fourth grade for ten years so I guess I am where He needs me to be!!!

    1. Thank you! I know you are right. I am trying not make a hasty decision, but should trust in myself. It is not a huge change, but will require some studying and taking a certification test. I can do it!
      Happy holiday to you!
