Here is my currently August
The first 3 days back have been great, crazy busy, but I love the current vibe on my grade level and at the school. There have been lots of great sharing moments, tons of laughter, and some great lunches! We are enjoying the teacher time because come next Wednesday lunch becomes a shove it down your throat before someone needs you! If everything continues on this path it is going to be a spectacular year!
Being back to work though means I have not had a chance to indulge in me time. I am guiltily reading blogs while my son watches Busytown Mysteries on Netflix, man I love Netflix when I need to steal a few minutes for myself. Yes, I know the TV is not meant to be a babysitter, but he loves it and I love how he retells the story to me once they solve the mystery. After I finish this I will go snuggle and read him a book.
Is anyone ever ready for the first day? I mean completely ready, nothing they wouldn't like to do, organize, add, fix? Well, if you know them send them to me, because no how much time I put in I never feel like I am done. So tomorrow, I will drag myself in to put some polishing touches on my room to get ready for my students and their families on Monday.
I never thought I would have such a strong feeling about students and scissors. But then again, I never took scissors apart or borrowed them without returning them. So please, oh please, scissor fairy make sure my kids all have a pair since I cannot break down and buy any more pairs for my room, simply because it irks me when they are destroyed or disappear.
I loathe getting papers marked up with red ink, so instead I grade in purple. I love purple ink and love to grade in purple!
Have you seen Fifth in the Middle's Chevron mustache pack? Oh, so trendy and cute. I have the "Before you leave I mustache you to" set and I have received so many compliments on it. It is so stinking cute!
Funny story related to my mustache set. While laminating, one of my teammates said, "Oh, I love your mustache." Another teacher overheard and gave use both a funny look. Of course, I said "Thanks, I really love the mustache." Well, the other teacher started to wonder if it is was socially acceptable to tell a woman she liked her mustache and then all of a sudden saw the papers and burst out laughing. All of us had a great laugh as we each realized she thought she was complimenting my mustache (which I always get waxed!) and not the papers for my wall.
Well, Huckle is done solving the mystery so it is time for me to snuggle with my little one.
Hope you are having a great start to your August!
I love your posters!! I try not to grade in red either! We only use red for adding details to our writing - I use my sharpie addiction to grade- A different color for each one!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I struggle passing by the Sharpie displays, have you seen the new neon Sharpies at Target? Loving those!
DeleteI had the case of the missing scissors last year! Sometimes, there was a pair for each child. Other days, not so much! That scissor fairy needs to visit my room, too! :) I'm your newest follower!
